Get Out Onto The Patio
If you want something a little different in your garden use our decorative Floor or Table lights. Try creating your lounge or living room outside with comfy rattan furniture and a Floor light to read a good book.
With a contemporary style but robust finish they are fantastic for providing illumination at night and creating ambiance for garden parties. Great for patios, tables or even in the ground
Don’t forget our festoon lights with painted pastel or harlequin lamps to add a touch of colour to any outdoor seating area. Use in a gazebo, along a fence or simply draped around your seating area. You don’t even have to have an excuse for a party to decorate your garden! Then to finish off your patio nicely add our illuminated planter pots which will highlight the area and add a subtle glow to foliage.
Dusk Till Dawn Sensors
As the days start to get longer and the weather (hopefully) begins to improve, you may find yourself drawn out in to the garden for gatherings with friends and family and as always happens at social functions, time may slip away from you and before long you’ll find yourself sat in the dark with only the glowing embers of the barbeque for light.
You might think that the best solution is to fit a large PIR floodlight and whilst this type of fitting offers the widest pool of light they’re usually far from attractive and you often have to perform an interpretive dance in order to get them to switch on, then in five minutes time you’ll be repeating the process.
Perhaps the best way to light your garden party is to use a fitting with a dusk till dawn sensor, this will cause your light fittings to turn on when the natural outdoor light reaches a certain level and on most sensors this level is adjustable.
Dusk till dawn sensors can be wired in to practically any outdoor light fitting, meaning your choice of fixture is expanded greatly and you won’t have to sit in the overwhelming beam of a floodlight, instead allowing you bask in the warm glow of a traditional style lantern or even the subtle light of an up and down fixture.
At Lighting Styles we have a wide range of outdoor light fittings in many different styles to suit any home from traditional cottages or modern new builds.

Garden lights and exterior lighting - contemporary outdoor lighting
Outdoor and garden lighting is a lot more than a means to extend the day. Think of the mood created on a stage with lighting and consider what you can do with your own outdoor space simply by using garden lights. Sunlight is great as it makes the garden thrive but it provides a very uniform light to everything in the garden regardless of whether it is something you want to see or not. When night falls you can control what is seen and creative outdoor lighting that truly brings the garden to life - creating a great nighttime scene.
Security lighting should only be used as security lighting as you will never create an outdoor oasis with a halogen flood light filling the garden with stark light plus many thieves regard a light as aiding their trade! Consider and imagine instead some of these options: a statue with an up light highlighting the features, perhaps a warm tone spike light picking out your favourite plant, a buried up light close to the trunk of a tree for a shadowy, moonlight effect or maybe a wall mounted spot light to highlight the walls tones and hues.
Hard landscaping may also require garden lighting, decks and paths that need indicator lights or lights within and around a swimming pool that can used on warm summer evenings. Lighting the garden at night not only creates light and shadows but a real sense of drama to the garden, totally transforming the area when daylight fades and night begins. With a little planning and thought your outdoor lighting can make the outdoor space unique and usable throughout the year. There will be more tips and tricks in each lighting category above.
