Recessed Downlights for Low Voltage Lamps
These downlights are low voltage options and therefore will require a transformers. Low voltage lamps are not wired directly to the mains and a transformer is used to reduce the current to 12 volt. Using a a low voltage downlight may work out slightly more expensive and seem difficult but longer term you will find more benefits due to low heat, less blown lamps and a wider choice of fittings.
Transformers are available in a variety of different wattages but Lighting Styles recommends using one transformer per lamp/fitting as this makes replacement of a faulty transformer easier (less wiring etc). New style electronic transformers are much more reliable than their predecessors and many of our transformers carry a 5-year guarantee.
