A single circuit track has the limitation that all lights on the track come on at the same time; with a 3-circuit track each circuit remains individually controllable by a three-way switch providing the flexibility to turn on or off each circuit of lighting as needed. A 3-circuit track has three live wires and one neutral wire, thus creating the opportunity for up to three separate circuits on just one length of track.
