LED Downlight with Dimmable GU10 Bulb to Cover Large Holes

HI, I just wanted to check whether these can be used directly to connect to a 240v Supply (I am assuming that the connector on the metal stem contains a 240/12V transformer)? Many thanks
The metal stem doesn’t need to be used. This is supplied in a kit as it was once used with higher temperature halogen lamps to keep the electrical connection which is plastic away from the hot lamp. This kit is now supply with LED lamps which run cooler. The LED lamps are mains. Connect to main supply to the terminal block and the cables carry mains to the lampholder. There is no transformer, no driver.

Can these be used in an outside porch setting. ? There is a downlight now in place which needs replacing and these fit the bill in terms of hole cover dimensions.
Unfortunately they would not be suitable for outdoors. You would require a fitting that is rated to IP44 or above.

I'm looking to replace six R80 kitchen light fittings with these. Just want to double check your fittings can be connected directly to the mains and can be dimmable.
Yes and yes. The only potential problem might arise from using an existing dimmer that does not work with the lower load of the LED lamps. Swapping out the dimmer with a replacement is normally easy enough (we sell these too).

Could you tell me how these are wired to the mains?
The mains wires are connected in the black terminal block you can see in the image. If you are unsure please consult an electrician.

Can you confirm this is connected directly to mains 240v and no transformer is required? Also could you tell me the Lumen or equivalent wattage light output the Bulbs provide?
There is no transformer required, the GU10 bulbs provided are 520 lumens.

Are the bulbs changeable or once chosen is that it?
These use GU10 bulbs, which can be changed & replaced.

I have some old halogen low voltage lights i want to replace. The Transformers have been replaced two-three times and the holes in the plaster board ceiling have broken in places. I am guessing these would do the job but want else do I need to convert the old stuff to LED?
Nothing else is required, simply remove the old lights and transformers, then wire the mains into these fixtures and relax.

Which is the brightest white please and do you have these as spots which can be angled slightly?
All 3 of the lamps we offer here have the same lumen output at 520 lumens. Most users suggest this is the same as their old 75w reflector lamps. I am going to replace some old lights with your dimmable LED downlight converter. I am going to replace six in total - 4 will be dimmed as a group and the other 2 will be dimmed individually. Can you advise what would be a suitable dimmer switch?
Either of our premium dimmer modules would work perfectly on very low loads. You can find them here

Can roof insulation be placed on top of them?
If you assemble the fixture with the wiring block vertical (as the image) this will give sufficient ventilation space to cover the fixture with quilt insulation. Put a block of wood of a similar height next to the downlight to reduce the weight of the heavy insulation pushing down on the light fixture.

I have old halogen fittings. Cut out hole 100mm, would this work for a replacement? It goes onto a Lutron light controller and this is dimmable.
Yes - we see no reason why this would not work. The Luton uses quite old, yet trusted dimming technology and these lamps will dim on pretty much any technology as long as the load is correct for the rating of the dimmer.

I have a hole of 135mm, would these cover them? Also do you have them in fire rated?
These fixtures have a diameter of 140mm so you will struggle to cover a 135mm diameter hole. It is possible if you use some builders adhesive (No Nails or similar) but you may be better off choosing a larger diameter downlight. I am looking for replacement lights for the bathroom and shower cubicle are these suitable.
This fitting has an IP rating of 20, therefore is not suitable for use in zone 2 in bathrooms or in a shower cubicle. It may be used outside of those areas. You may wish to consider this downlight which offers a high IP65 rating, making it suitable for use in all bathroom and wetroom ceilings.

What is the beam angle on these lights? Would they be suitable as the main light source in a kitchen?
The beam angle is around 40 degrees and yes they are often used in a kitchen as they give a good quality light.
