Telescopic Tension Wire Spotlight - 3 Finishes

We have a similar setup - with a tension wire which due to space constraints is configured between 2 walls with the 2 cables running horizontally but positioned 1 above the other (vertical) rather than the horizontal config as in your picture. For this reason the light fitting requires to be light in weight - these spot lights look ideal. I need to replace my current light setup, which is configured similar to this. Sadly, the transformer of 25 years has come to the end of its life. I thought given the age it would be best to replace all the light fitting and move to LED bubs. Currently using 50W 12V halogen, 680 lumen Can you advise on an equivalent light: Maybe the - MR16 8w Osram Neutral White Dimmable LED 621 Lumens - RADMR16DIM504K It is for a kitchen I think I will be able to use the current cable Can you advise on transformer to run this setup Thank you for your help
Your existing 50 watt MR16 halogens produced around 680 lumens, but a noticeable amount of that light came out of the back of the lamp. LED MR16s send all their output forward, so an 8 watt Osram at about 620 lumens will give you very similar usable light in the kitchen. The tension wires can usually be reused provided the insulation and terminals are still in good condition. You will need to replace the old halogen transformer. Those units rely on a minimum load and won’t run LED lamps correctly. You can either use a lower wattage decorative tension-wire transformer or, if the unit is hidden away, switch to a 12 volt DC constant voltage LED driver sized to the total wattage of your LED lamps. For example, five lamps at 8 watts each would require a 50 to 60 watt driver. If you prefer to talk it through, feel free to call us. The lamp head can be adjusted to direct light where you want with a 90º tilt and the telescopic arms can be adjusted to shorten the drop of the fitting.

Hi, are these something that could be put up on a glass conservatory roof to sit over a table.
Suspended wire systems are often used in conservatories with great results.

Have you a compatible LED MR16 lamp that can be used in this fitting?
Product Ref: 7368 is a LED MR16 lamp that will work. You have to make sure that you don't underload the transformer when using low-level LEDs. Please call if you are unsure on this.

How is this fitted? Presumably to the ceiling, in which case do you fit it as you would any other ceiling light?
This is a fitting which is part of our tension wire range. Our wire system usually runs from wall to wall or can be set to hang from the ceiling. This particular fitting is attached to each wire with a grub screw which pierces the wire to make it live.
