I`d like to replace the pull chord in my bathroom with one of these, does the connection require a neutral conductor?
Being an electrical device the sensor requires a neutral connection to power the sensor and relay/micro switch. So a neutral and live supply is required.

I am looking for sensor to operate inside a shower cubicle so needs to have a narrow operating range so that it only senses when someone gets in to shower not when wakling past. Also with glass door between person and sensor will that inhibit sensor operation of your standard unit ie will no sense through glass?
PIR`s do not work through glass - otherwise you would set of burglar alarms each time you walked past a house. The height of the ceiling and height of the glass shower cubical needs to be considered. With careful positioning this would work okay for your needs. Just be careful about meeting the bathroom zone requirements. See our bathroom lighting category for more information.

My bathroom lights are switched from a normal rocker switch outside the bathroom. If I had this PIR installed would I still be able to use the switch outside the bathroom as a manual overide or would I need to disconnect the rocker switch?
If the switched circuit goes to the PIR then the light fixture switching ON would result in the lights coming on for the programmed length of time (as long as the lux level is set high enough). Upon entering the room the PIR would sense movement and kep the lights on. If you`re laying in the bath and not moving the lights would go off after the programmed length of time - so keep splashing!

I am wanting to fit a PIR in my porch with just one or two 7watt led GU10 light fittings. What is the minimum wattage of light that this can work on?
There is no minimum load on this PIR - it uses volt-free contacts. If movement is detected the micro-switch operates whatever load is connected.

Can this be surface mounted on a wall at the height at which you would find a switch in a normal room?
If desired it could be fitted over an existing light switch.

What it the mounted diameter of the sensor please? What price for 4 units?
The PIR sensor is 110mm in diameter. Discounts are quantity based when ordering over 10 units.

Will this PIR sensor switch off the lights/fan if waved at again or must it run to the preset time?
The PIR will re-trigger whenever it detects movement. So if you keep moving in the detection range the PIR will keep the lights operational.

Is this PIR sensor compatible with low voltage LED lighting?
Yes it will be compatible as the LED driver will provide an inductive load. Please note that the maximum inductive load that this unit can support is 250W, which in all fairness is a LOT of LED`s.

Can this device be used to control a set of six low voltage ceiling lights in a bathroom?
This device is suitable for an inductive (low voltage) load up to a maximum of 250W so you can use it to control a maximum of 5 x 50W lamps or your 6 lights if they are 35W lamps.

Does this unit, or another you sell, have a soft start facility?
As the PIR can be used to switch resistive and inductive loads - including non lighting loads there cannot be a built in soft start facility. That said it can power a soft start transformer or relays as needed.

Will this directly replace pull switch which has only a Live and switched live or will it require a Neutral also?
In order to work all PIR sensors will require a neutral in addition to a live connection.

Will this PIR switch also switch the extractor fan at the same time as the light?
Yes, normally an extractor unit will have two live feeds; one is a switched live from the lighting circuit (or PIR) and an unswitched live that allows the fan to continue to run for a few minutes after the lights are switched off.

If i used this in my bathroom at home instead of a pull switch, would this automatically turn on and off lights when entering and exiting room?
Yes, this would operate you lights and if needed your extractor fan too. You'll need to set the timer to suit your needs so the lights don't go out if you're in the bath and not moving!
