The twin spotlight layout, adjustable heads, and configurable sensor make it suitable for a wide range of exterior locations including entrances, paths, and driveways.
Both spotlights are adjustable, not only allowing the beam to be angled away from the wall plate but also rotated for precise aiming. The sensor itself can also be rotated and tilted, making it possible to detect people approaching from the side rather than only head-on, which is a common limitation with many exterior lights.
Installation is straightforward. Electricians will appreciate the pin and socket electrical connection, allowing the wall plate to be fixed and wired to the permanent terminal block first. The spotlight assembly then connects electrically as it is secured to the wall plate, simplifying final installation.
The Light
Twin spotlights are each fitted with a 10 watt COB LED chip, providing a combined output of 1800 lumens. Light output is evenly distributed with a wide 95 degree beam angle and no central hot spots, making it suitable for general area lighting rather than harsh directional beams.
Colour temperature is adjustable via a built-in switch, allowing selection between warm white 3000K, neutral white 4000K, or cool white 6000K to suit the surrounding environment.
The fixture is rated IP54 and the spotlights can be aimed up, down, or outward without concern about water ingress. LED life is rated at 50,000 hours, offering long service life in typical domestic use.
Sensor Option: Microwave
The microwave sensor detects movement using microwave signals rather than heat. This makes it particularly suitable for installations where environmental temperature changes are present, such as near condensing boiler flues. Detection coverage is broad and adjustable, allowing sensitivity to be reduced where required.
Detection angle is 360 degrees.
Detection range is adjustable from approximately 3 to 10 metres.
Time on setting is adjustable from 10 seconds to 15 minutes.
Ambient light level can be set to prevent daytime operation if required.
Microwave sensors can detect movement through light obstructions such as bushes or fencing, so positioning and sensitivity adjustment are important to avoid unwanted activation. Note that rain can trigger a microwave sensor.
Sensor Option: PIR
The PIR sensor detects movement by sensing changes in infrared heat across its detection zones. It is suited to applications where movement occurs within a defined area and direction, such as entrances, walkways, and garden paths.
Detection angle is approximately 120 degrees.
Detection range is adjustable up to approximately 2 to 10 metres.
Time on setting is adjustable from 10 seconds up to around 7 minutes.
Ambient light sensitivity is adjustable, allowing operation to be limited to low light conditions if required.
PIR sensors are directional by nature, which can help reduce unwanted activation from areas outside the intended detection zone. As with all PIR sensors, positioning away from heat sources such as boiler flues is recommended to ensure stable operation.
