Design and Style
A cornice in architecture is a decorative feature that brings refinement and proportion to the junction between wall and ceiling. This neoclassical plaster cornice, influenced by Regency and Louis XVI design, features a lower ogee and graceful upper projection that directs light smoothly across the ceiling. Handmade from high-strength plaster, it combines traditional craftsmanship with the ability to incorporate modern LED lighting. The form provides a deep ledge that enhances the ceiling line while creating an elegant, softly illuminated border.

Lighting and Performance
Designed to be self-illuminating, this cornice includes channels that allow flexible use of LED tape. The customer can also choose to install LED tape on top of the profile for ceiling illumination, in the lower section to highlight the plaster surface, or in both for a balanced two-directional effect. The aluminium LED profiles supplied ensure effective heat dissipation and long service life. The reflected light produces a continuous, uniform line without the dark spots associated with older fluorescent systems. For best results, installation should typically position the cornice around 100–300 mm below the ceiling, achieving a smooth, balanced glow. Standard or high-output LED tape can be used depending on the desired intensity, and CCT tape provides flexibility in the tone of white light (colour temperature).

Construction and Material
Each section is handmade from reinforced plaster with integrated fibreglass strands for strength and dimensional stability. The result is a dense, durable profile that can be cut, shaped, and finished on site. A precise peg-and-hole jointing system at each end ensures accurate alignment between lengths, maintaining a seamless line of light once installed. Each pack includes two 2.5 m plaster cornices with four 1.25 m aluminium LED profiles, designed for straightforward assembly and continuous illumination.

Installation Guidance
Cut the cornice using a medium-tooth cross-cut saw with a firm blade for clean edges. Align adjoining lengths by locating the peg into the corresponding socket before fixing. Mounting is straightforward: three screw plates per length provide secure fixing, with a strong adhesive such as Decofix Pro applied along the rear surfaces. For joints, Extra Fix cement ensures durable bonding. Any small gaps at the top, bottom, or between sections can be filled with plaster filler and sanded smooth before finishing.

When painting, apply one or two mist coats before finishing. All standard paints are suitable. Water-based emulsion provides a traditional matt surface but may develop hairline cracks if the ceiling moves. Acrylic or oil-based paints have greater flexibility and are recommended where vibration or temperature variation is expected.
