Design and Style
The Frisbi pendant light by Flos is a standout design by Achille Castiglioni, first introduced in 1978. Combining geometric precision with subtle visual trickery, the pendant suspends a lightweight frosted disc beneath a polished chrome reflector using three fine steel tension wires. The disc appears to float mid-air, catching light both directly and indirectly for a soft, ambient glow.

Usage
This pendant works particularly well in contemporary spaces with high ceilings, mezzanines, or vaulted rooflines. We’ve used the Frisbi extensively in lighting designs for kitchens, dining areas, and stairwells where a blend of architectural form and effective illumination is required. Its scale (60cm diameter) gives it presence without overwhelming the room, and it suits both residential and commercial interiors.

Key Features
Light from the E27 base lamp passes directly through the central opening in the disc, while the wide frosted surface catches the spill light and refracts it outward and upward. This dual effect creates a comfortable, even light while also adding a soft uplight that enhances surrounding surfaces and ceiling details.

The reflector is made from polished, nickel-plated metal, with a black lamp holder and black plastic ceiling rose. The pendant is suspended by a 3900mm black flex, which can be trimmed to suit the installation height, and three fine support wires that hold the diffuser in perfect balance.

Despite its generous 60cm diameter, the Frisbi weighs just 2.7kg. This makes it simple to handle and install, even in vaulted ceilings or retrofit scenarios, while still offering enough weight for stability in open-plan spaces.
