Serpente 2131 Floor Lamp - 1965 Design Classic by Elio Martinelli Luce

Serpente is a design from 1965 by Elio Martinelli for the design company Martinelli Luce - a stunning and original light which became a design classic of the '60s. Here in Blanco, obviously white to us Brits.

A designer floor lamp named Serpente which has a very recognisable shape and innovative style. The base of the floor light has a curved stem, unlike the traditional lamps of that time, and this is connected to a heavy base that acts as a counterweight allowing it to be swivelled around creating an organic curve of a snake.

If you are using this light for reading it is worth knowing that the shade can also be tilted to the side for extra light. Ideal for a design-conscious home, and would look stunning in many settings, place next to a sofa or favourite armchair. The dog in the image is small but this light is not large at 120cm (4 feet) high it is very much a sofa lamp with style impact!
