In polished chrome this transformer obviously suits surface mounting and can be used to power Low Voltage Wire systems.

Normally you should aim to use at least 80% of the capacity of the transformer i.e. 240w on a 300va for optimum performance, but this transformer is designed to take loads from 150-300 watts, so if you are replacing a 150, 200 or 210va transformer this is a viable solution

This transformer is 90mm deep and 160mm in diameter and has two 50cm long 6mm² leads preinstalled for connection to your system.

On some lighting circuits a Type C MCBs may have to be used to avoid tripping because of the higher current associated with this type of transformer - these only cost a few pounds.

While toroidal transformers are dimmable they often have an issue with harmonics (a buzzing noise) that may be present. So we suggest not dimming this product in domestic settings.

Yes it is a toroidial transformer.

Can the transformer be placed on the wall on the side of tension wire?
Yes the transformer can be positioned on the wall if required.

Can I connect the transformer in the middle of the cable run rather than at one end?
One of the great features of the tension wire system is the ability to connect the transformer anywhere along the length.

Can you daisy-chain transformers to run more lights or is it one transformer per circuit ?
No, one transformer per circuit is required. Alternatively, the circuit could be split to enable two smaller capacity transformers to be used in place of one larger. Please contact the technical department if you would like specific advice for an intended project.

How many lights will one transformer drive? What if I want more lights than that? Can the transformers be hidden in the ceiling ?
The total wattage of the lights to be used will determine the required capacity of the transformer. For example if using 3x 35w light fittings a 105VA transformer (minimum) will be required. Please note the capacity of the transformer should not be exceed (it will not work!). However it will still operate when wattage is below the full capacity, i.e. 2x 35W fittings will be fine on the 105VA transformer. Transformers can be hidden without cause for concern, though they should not be located to far from the lighting itself, roughly within 1-2 metres or lumen output can become affect.
