Fixed Downlight For R80 Reflector Lamp - Brass

1. The picture does not show spring clips that would secure the light to the roof, therefore how are these lights secured to the roof. 2. As the lights are advertised as dimmable can you use a standard R80 Tungsten bulb
The fixing clips are the same as the discontinued eyball version. and can be seen HERE. In truth, you can use any E27 bulb you like including standard R80 reflector lamps (which are dimmable).

You say suitable for a DIY job, how would you wire these up and you don't have to be a qualified electrician?
Most DIYer would look at an existing and worn out light, see how it is wired and transfer that wiring to the new fixture. That operation does not need to be carried out by an electrician. We cannot comment on how you should wire this light fixture as we have no idea of your house wiring.

Does this product require a thermal protector?
If you are asking does this fixture need a fire hood the answer is no, however, a fire hood, or fire-rated fixtures should be used when installing into a fire compartment or installations that need to maintain a fire integrity (most do not).

Please could you let me know if these lights will be suitable for a 100 mm hole?
The cutout required is 90mm, therefore 100mm would be too large and not work for this fitting.

No, the design of this fixture is not fire rated. If installing in a fire compartment or a fire rated ceiling you will require a fire hood.
