3 Circuit Track Lighting – Surface or Suspended
What it is and how it works
3-circuit track lighting offers greater control and flexibility than standard single-circuit systems. Designed for surface mounting to ceilings or walls, this system can also be suspended using wire kits, making it suitable for higher ceilings and larger spaces.
The track contains three live conductors and a shared neutral, allowing you to create up to three separately controlled lighting circuits on a single length of track. Each light fitting is easily assigned to one of the three circuits using a small dial. This allows you to illuminate only the fittings required at any given time, making the system particularly useful in dynamic environments where lighting needs regularly change.
Usage
Ideal for retail displays, galleries, and commercial interiors, as well as large residential kitchens or open-plan living areas. The ability to position fittings anywhere along the track, and assign them to different circuits, allows for precise control of both lighting effect and energy usage. Whether highlighting products, artwork or architectural features, the system adapts as your space evolves.
Key Features
Available in various lengths and three finishes, the track can be cut to size using a mitre saw — either by hand or machine — to suit your layout. A wide range of components enables straight runs, corners, suspended sections, or multi-directional layouts. Accessories include connectors, end caps, and a 5kg pendant adapter, allowing you to integrate both spotlights and pendants on the same track.

Track Compatibility Guidance
Many UK and European lighting manufacturers, including Erco and Zumtobel, design their fittings to be compatible with the EUTRAC profile, the industry standard for 3-circuit track systems. This makes the track suitable for use with a wide range of systems from brands such as Global, Nordic, LTS, Unipro, SLV, Thorn, Ivela, Staff, iGuzzini, Nokia, and Hoffmeister.
Please note the following compatibility limitations:

DALI fixtures are often not compatible with standard 3-circuit track.

Older fittings (typically more than 30 years old) may not match the current EUTRAC profile.

Single or two-circuit fittings are not suitable for use with 3-circuit systems.
