Better bathroom lighting - how to achieve results
If you want better lighting in your bathroom or if you just want to be able to see yourself clearly and without shadows in the mirror you will need to be strong in your demands.
If you have no power above or to the sides of your bathroom mirror you will find and hear so many reasons why it is not possible...
"There is no time" often means your electrician cannot be bothered so make them aware it is something you want and therefore is something you are going to have. Remodeling a bathroom is a juggling act between several trades (plumbers, electricians tilers etc) there is always something that can shift a day or two.
"It would make too much mess to channel out the wall for the cable" see comment above - you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette! Think of the years of misery because you have not been able to see well enough to put on your make-up or miss shaving those awkward hairs under your nose in your newly refurbished bathroom.
"You will not need them with these spotlights and downlights" believe us when we say if your previous bathroom lighting was a single pendant in the middle of the ceiling changing to recessed downlights or spotlights will only make the situation worse.
"The tiles are already up" easy take them down! Tile adhesive stays soft for a several days. Pop off the tiles, channel out the walls for the cables (or simply drop the supply down in plasterboard walls) drill the tile for the cable outlet and put the tiles back in place.
In short unless your home does not have an electrical supply you can improve an existing bathroom to provide light for shaving, putting in contact lenses, applying make-up etc.
