Recessed wall luminaires and guide lights

Wall recessed lights are often used in brick and block walls to provide a low glare light source on stairways and walkways around a building. When using light at low level consideration should be given to get a broad and even distribution of light if there is no other additional lighting within an area.

Recessed wall lights are available in a variety of sizes and require close liaison with the tradesman to ensure a good fit. Many have a casing or housing that can be cast into concrete or mortar to make the installation easier and ensure the luminaire is not damaged during construction.

Brick lights are unobtrusive because they are installed directly into steps or between bricks, bringing emphasis to the light they produce while minimizing their own appearance.

In busy areas with lots of traffic it may even pose a safety hazard to install lighting bollards or lanterns that people could inadvertently collide with or trip over.

Any commercial facility hosting events at night can reduce the risk of injury by installing step lights on the stairs themselves and brick lights in adjacent walls.

The majority of brick lights and step lights have louvered designs which focuses the light on the ground where people need to see to walk, and keeps the glare from hitting the eyes.
