It is sensible to use energy efficient lighting wherever possible but often the aesthetics, size and ugliness of some energy saving fittings makes our commercial clients look towards more traditional tungsten solutions.

This fitting however does break the mould as it is stylish looking yet very efficient.The metalwork is die-cast alloy with a fixed lamp holder at the rear.

Rather like the bigger CF downlights this fitting has a reflector, aluminised in a highly specular finish, increasing the light output ratio of the fitting and giving a wider light distribution to provide even, shadow-free illumination.

Low heat from the lamp means this fitting may be located under insulation - no need to cut this away and reduce the efficiency of your installation.

How many lights would I need for a bathroom 7ft by 6ft? Does this light take LED bulbs?
Depending on the layout one; in the shower enclosure and two in the circulation space. You can of course adjust the light levels by using lamps of a different wattage.

The house has rcd`s but the bathroom I would like to fit this in doesnt have a separate rcd- is it possible to put in protection without major reiwiring in order to fit this lamp in zone 1
Most don`t have a separate RCD. In the roofspace above the bathroom you could install a small consumer unit with an RCD on your lighting circuit. Or wire your lighting circuit into an socket with built RCD protection or use a plug top RCD and put a three pin plug on the light fittings. All need a degree of work but your electrician can guide you once they`ve had a look at the existing wiring. But first of all we suggest you check the location carefully against the bathroom zones diagram if it is zone 2 it`s a lot easier!

Would this be ok to put in a porch ??
Yes it would work well in that situation.

As with other energy saving bulbs do these take a while to reach their full brightness?
The GX53 lamp comes on at 60% of it`s light output and ramps up to 90% within 20 seconds. It takes a further 60 seconds to achieve 100% light output but this is often not noticed by users. In short it`s a lot better than many CFL lamps.

Does the light come with a lamp or do I need to include one in my order?
The fitting is not supplied with a lamp. The lamp wattages and colour temperatures available are listed below.

I am having a new WC fitted into an extension. The room is quite small and the ceiling is sloping. I want an energy efficient light that is suitable for such a sloping ceiling/room. Will this fit the bill?
Yes this fitting will work anyway up. That said the lamp source is bright so avoid positioning the fitting so it shines directly into your face.

How do you replace the lamp?
The front bezel twists off. Twist the lamp and it comes free. Replace lamp, replace bezel. Easy solution without having to take the whole fitting out of the ceiling.
