What is the depth of the product
The depth of this fitting is 90mm.

Can you confirm this is a down-only light. Can the surround be painted.
This is a downlight only fitting. Its stainless steel, It can be painted if you wish, hammerite special metals primer paint would be recommended, We are unsure on what the finish would look like though.

Does this product has a built in PIR?
This product does not have a built in PIR but it can be used with an external PIR or dusk to dawn sensor.

Our electrician has stated that it might not be waterproof enough for long term outdoor use and will also not give much light but we love the design and would like some reassurance. We would go for 4 to span a 9m stretch.
IP44 is splash proof from any angle, so we would regard this as a weatherproof fixture. You can maintain the stainless steel finish with a little light oil every few months or so. Your electrician can ensure the cable entries are sealed and secure by adding a little extra silicon where the flex comes in. Lamp wise in very cold weather the lamp may give less light otherwise it is very acceptable. Spacing and perceived brightness is dependant on the wall they are going to be fixed too. Light brick, render is going to be good, dark brick and black shutter boards are going to reduce the reflected light.

I am awaiting delivery of 6 of these fittings it would my electrician setting out help to know wher the flex inlet is i.e centred or to one side?
Cable entry is set 65mm from the left hand edge as you look at it mounted on the wall.

I need lighting to illuminate name of bar. How far down will it illuminate? and also need to know how much width will each light cover. Do you think these lights are suitable for this purpose?
This fitting would work quite well when used to illuminate a sign from above - the compact fluorescent lamp gives quite a wide spread of light. We`d suggest a spacing of 700mm but this will be affected by how close they are to the signage. A longer sign may justify a linear sign lighting solution.

Is this available as an emergency light or do you have anything similar that is an emergency light?
This is not available as a maintained emergency light. However it may be used with a compact fluorescent emergency remote battery pack that will operate the lamp. Call us for more details.
