Traditional Exterior Wall Lights - advice and information
Wall lights provide diffuse lighting all around but tend to give a high downward light ratio. Some designs partially shield the lamp to avoid projecting light into the eyes, illuminating the night sky or annoying neighbours. The style chosen should reflect the architectural character of your home, your personal taste or a combination of the two. Often wall lights are used to provide safe illumination to steps and hazards or to allow you to identify visitors at the door. Many of our traditional wall lights are hand finished with gold or silver paint to soften the look and make them more suited to period properties. Brass and copper components that are not lacquered will oxidise and take on a dated patina quickly to look like they have always been part of your property.
While a number of traditional wall lights come with built in movement detectors a very limited number of have the facility for one wall light with PIR (master) to switch on additional garden lighting (slave). If you like one of our designs but need it to be operated by a movement detector you may benefit from using an independent PIR detector which can switch on all exterior lights when the sensor is tripped. Often the sensors can be located in an inconspicuous location i.e. at the start of a pathway or drive; this allows the lights to be switched on as soon as they may be necessary.
