In short you have the right to cancel within fourteen working days after delivery. The costs you incur in returning cancelled items (via post or courier) will not be refunded. We reserve the right to refuse goods returned to us without a returns number. We also reserve the right to charge for repackaging where the original packaging is spoiled with excessive packaging tape, writing or damaged - future customers would not wish to receive goods in such a condition. Returning an item without following the above policy may result in you not receiving a refund for the purchase price of the goods.
Cancelling an order: change of mind (items received)
To withdraw from a purchase you must obtain a RMA (Returns Merchandise Authorisation) number from our sales office by giving your order details confirming you wish to cancel your order. When you are cancelling your order within our fourteen days cooling-off period, and there has been no error on our part, we will refund the purchase price of the item. Goods must be returned in a saleable condition and in the original carton/boxes and returned in adequate packaging to ensure the goods are not damaged in transit.

Goods damaged in transit
We always package goods securely to ensure they get to our customers in pristine condition, however occasionally there are problems. Should the packaging be noticeably damaged in transit please ensure you either:
- Refuse acceptance of the goods and they will automatically be returned to us,
- Mark the couriers documentation as “damaged”
- If you are unsure of the condition of the goods sign the couriers documentation “unchecked”
You should inspect the goods within 48 hours to ensure they have not been damaged in transit. If after opening the packaging you find the goods to be damaged contact Lighting Styles as soon as possible and speak to a member of our customer service team.
If you wish to leave a message out of hours the following information will be useful:
- Order number and name
- Details of the damage and the item(s) damaged
- How you would like us to contact you
Often a solution is for us to send out a replacement component or piece of glass. But of course it may be more appropriate for us to provide a replacement or refund (or if you prefer, a discount off the value of the goods).
Guarantee - faulty items
All goods supplied are guaranteed to be free of defects for a period of at least one year. This is in addition to your statutory rights as a customer under the Sale of Goods Act. Should a fault occur, your goods will be repaired or replaced free of charge. If we are unable to affect a repair or replacement, we will offer you a full refund or upgrade. Please note bulbs supplied with a lighting fixture are normally excluded from this warranty.
Faults that become apparent within our fourteen days cooling-off period will be repaired or replace without cost to you. Within this 14 day period you may also cancel your order for a complete refund. Cost incurred in sending the item back via Royal Mail Standard Parcel Service will be refunded.
Faults that occur after this period may be returned to us (at your cost) for repair or replacement. Ensure items coming back to us are returned in adequate packaging to avoid damaged in transit.
Often spare componenets are available that can easily and quickly be replaced. If you believe your goods have a fault notify us with this express form.
Refund policy
Returns sent by post are at your own cost. Ensure you obtain a free stamped Proof of Postage from the Post Office as we are not responsible for items that are lost in transit or damaged on their way back to us.
Your refund will normally be processed within 7 working days of receiving your return but it may take slightly longer to appear on your bank statement. We will refund the cost of the item, but not the postage unless the item was found to be faulty. This does not affect your normal statutory rights.
If the item is faulty we will give you a refund or exchange the item if possible. Any postage charges you may have paid will be refunded. If the item is not faulty but has suffered from excessive wear and tear, misuse or malicious damage we will discuss this with you. We will not be able to offer a refund in some cases. If we cannot offer a refund we will explain why we cannot accept the return.
Returns Policy - in full
By law customers located in the European Union have the right to withdraw from the purchase of an item within seven days from the day of delivery (The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) (Amendment) Regulations 2005). We offer our customers 14 days to withdraw from a purchase.

How to return an item
If you need to return goods to us you must obtain a RMA (Returns Merchandise Authorisation) from our customer service department prior to returning any goods: this will enable us to process the return quickly. Items returned without a RMA may not be processed or processing may be delayed. We reserve the right to refuse goods returned or returned deliveries sent to us without an RMA number.
Please when returning an item ensure you add paperwork in the box (this can be a copy of your invoice or a note) with the:
- Name, billing address and a contact telephone number
- Email address
- Order number or invoice number
- Brief details of the reason for return

Cancelling an order before receipt (items not yet received)
Orders are often processed and dispatched quicker than the time quoted against products. If your goods have been collected by our courier we cannot stop the consignment.
If once you have placed your order you decide you wish to cancel your order you should contact us as soon as possible to avoid any inconvenience or charges for return. Call us on 01780 767617.

Delayed or missing parcels
You must advise Lighting Styles within several days of an order dispatch notification if your item has not arrived. We cannot be held responsible if you fail to advise us that a parcel has not arrived. We allow a 14 days grace period for missing or non-delivered items, after this time we will not be held responsible for missing items.
