Is it possible to change the shade if desired?
Yes you can swap out the shade for something else - they will need to be designed for an E27 Edison screw lampholders (larger hole than bayonet shades) . If the weight of the new shade differs from the original the friction can be adjusted in the ceiling rose for smooth rise and fall action.
