Part L compliant light fittings must take only energy efficient lamp types and generate at least 40 lumens per watt of light. On new builds, refurbishments and extensions you'll need to use a percentage of these types of light fitting to satisfy the building control inspector.

Luckily this wall light makes use of a compact fluorescent light source yet keeps the stylish minimal design that is so often desired in neutral modern interiors.

By using compact electronic flicker free control gear the lamp gives the same pleasing effect as less efficient tungsten lamps. Just remember that you will not be able to use this wall light on a dimmer circuit.

Is this open top and bottom or fully enclosed by the glass shade? Is there a lower powered energy saving bulb which will fit, ideally something equivalent to about an 80w tungsten bulb? The glass is a cylinder i.e. open top and bottom. The control gear can only operate a 18w TC-T lamp which provides 1200 lumens. That said often users find that warm white lamps look less "bright" than cooler white lamps.
