can the shade be changed This may be possible yes, however they are supplied by the manufacturer complete with shade.

Can these lamps be plugged into a 13 amp socket or should they be hard wired? This bedside light is always going to look best when it is hard-wired but if you are creative, and have a few tools you could fashion a way to run the supply on the surface to a 13 amp socket.
