Can an energy saving bulb be fitted to this light and would it be bright enough please? You can use an energy saving CFL lamp in this fixture. "Bright" is subjective and opposite of "dark" but yes most (85%) of the light from the bulb will get out of the fixture. Other factors make a difference too; any light positioned on white wall will be brighter than the same fixture on a red brick wall.
