Traditional Garden Lighting

Lighting Styles has a large selection of exterior traditional garden lighting in a variety of styles and finishes. If you are looking for an exterior traditional or reproduction light fitting for your home you will find the perfect garden light on these pages.

Traditional lanterns were always large in size because of the heat generated by the gas mantle or flame. Four pane lanterns are still available in their original large sizes to reproduce the effects of these gas lamps and maintain scale but now tend to use mains lamps, sodium lamps (for the authentic yellow colour) or energy saving lamps. Smaller carriage lamps are quite common place in the UK market and considered traditional but they have only been made for the last 40-50 years. So, if you have a period property do not assume that a miniature version of a Victorian style gas lamp is the most historically accurate light for your home.

If you have a traditional style home you may want to consider installing a bollard with say a carriage lamp design to aid sophistication to your period home. Wall lanterns installed to the front of the house not only add interest to the property but can also provide necessary security lighting.

Period and traditional style garden lights are easy to install but we always suggest you consult a qualified electrician for further advice on installation.
