Simple Energy Saving Downlight

This is a simple yet effective recessed downlight for the GX53 flat CFL energy saving lamp.

It is manufactured from ABS plastic with spring toggles to hold in place.

Accommodates the deeper 13w lamp as well as the shallower 7w and 9w versions.

When in situ and used with the 13w lamp the light output is very much comparable with a 50w R80 tungsten reflector lamp i.e. a broad light distribution and a soft light.

I want to know if these downlights require a transformer? No they do not require a transformer, they are mains power operated.

We have been asked to include GX53710 fittings in a project. Do they require additional smoke hoods or do they meet current building regulations for sound and fire resistance? We are not aware of a GX53 recessed downlights on the market that has a fire rated housing. You could use either a fire hood or a surface mounted fitting if fire rating is required.

What kind of bulb does it take and how much does it cost? Is it screw or pins? Is it halogen? This downlight can only accept a flat circular compact fluorescent lamp (CFL). The lamps are listed below.
