Is this product fire safe? There is no fire rating for this fitting. If used in a location where the ceiling is fire rated i.e. double skin plasterboard or FireBoard you should use a fire hood over the fitting to maintain any fire protection. If it's just going into a single skin plasterboard ceiling it more than likely not a fire-rated ceiling and therefore fire protection is not required. However you may have to argue this point with your electrician or building control inspector and they sometimes hold strong (and wrong) opinions about this vague part of the building regs.
