Can you let me know if I can use this light on a dimmer switch? Yes this single pendant should operate on any good quality dimmer. Ensure you do not overload the rating of the dimmer unit with more fittings than it can handle. Dimmers are available in a variety of wattages - add up the wattage of all lamps (or transformers on low voltage lighting) to find your total loading.

Can the suspension height be shortend? Yes the suspension can be shortened both at the time of installation and when in situ.

I want to suspend two of these lights each side of the bed in our guest bedroom. Is 12V sufficient for them to be used as reading lights? The voltage is not going to be your issue, it will be the wattage of the lamp. The lamp is only 20W and is omni-directional. If the light was focused in one direction then it may just be enough but we would suggest this fitting would not be suitable for reading on its own.

I'd like to hang three of these over my kitchen island, having read the previous query (reading light/bedroom) do you think they won't produce enough light? Too little light, too much glare and too easy to break.
