What size hole cutter do i need to install these? The fittings supplied with these kits require a cut-out of 70mm. |
Hi, I am interested in purchasing mood lighting for my bathroom two questions please - how many lights would you suggest I need for a bathroom measuring 10 ft 10 inches by 7ft 4inches?
We would not suggest the use of these mood light as your only source of light in your bathroom. They should be used to supplement existing lighting or for decorative use. |
What depth is the mood lights. Can they be recessed in a wall. These can certainly be recessed into a plasterboard and stud-work wall. They also need less space than a standard recessed fitting as they are LED and as such do not get as hot, so we would recommend a space of 80mm. |
I am planning on building a wetroom/steam room that is a proper enclosed tiled room (as opposed to a glass enclosure). Are these lights suitable for installation in this location? The ceiling lights have a waterproof rating of IP65 and will work without issues in steam rooms or wet rooms with high power shower jets. However your ceiling may need a suitable paint surface! |
How deep a recess does the light need? Can they go into a stud wall? These lights can be used in a stud wall. If you have a restricted space it may be better to use a low profile fitting where the lamp is closer to the front glass. Make a note of your available space (void and the depth of the plasterboard) and contact us with these and we'll find a workable solution. |
I have just installed a free standing bath and I was wondering whether these lights would be safe installed on floor? very near to the bath Within 600mm of the footprint of your bath is classed as Zone 2 and any fitting in this area is required to be IP44 rated. The fitting used in this particular set-up is IP65 rated and so offers more than adequate protection. |
What is the maximum wattage of these bulbs?
Also, I have a shower encloser that is 1200x900mm. How many would I need to make a noticable difference (it won't be the main light source.)? Great question - when the LED is on "White" all diodes are on (red, green & blue) it consumes about 7 watts and gives about as much light as a 20 a lamp. If you are using these LED lamps on a separate circuit two would give a great effect. If the main light is likely to be on then perhaps 3 LEDs would be better. It all depends on how much light there is in the shower (both daylight and artificial). |
Ref. SHRGB Kit. On changing colour, say on 3 units, is the same colour outputted by all 3 units simultanously? i.e no conflicting colours from the 3 units. Each unit has its own inbuilt receiver allowing for independent control. Each lamp can be set to the same single colour or sequence, however as there is no central regulator you may find over a period of time that the lamps might slip out of perfect sync. |
I am building a new 2.7m x 2.4m bathroom and am installing a free-standing bath and a 800 x 1200 shower enclosure (3 solid walls). If I purchase a 2 light changing kit and place one in the wall behind the bath and the other light in the shower (as a supplimentary light to a normal downlight) - will this be an appropriate use of the lights and provide the mood effect I'm looking for?
Also can I select individual colours without activating the change sequences?
I assume only one controller is needed for this kit? Mood lighting always works best in spaces with light coloured walls and ceilings. On darker surfaces the effect is reduce as much of the light is absorbed by darker surfaces.
As you are building the space you may have slightly more time to make your decision than most of our customers. Why not try the two light kit, wire in up to a 3 pin plug and try it out. If it gives enough light great, if not contact us and we'll send the extra kit to add more lamps.
You are right to have additional lights to give white light when required. Having two lighting circuits with two switches always gives the best results.
Yes you can set all lamps to single colour - there are several preset on the controller.
Only one remote is required. |
Can these led fittings be installed vertically in the wall of the shower cubicle? Yes, the lamps are a tight fit into the actual fitting and this will hold them in position if mounted in a wall. |
What is the wattage output of the lights? Also for dimming and colour control do you need to order the dimmer unit as well as the colour remote? Thanks. The total wattage of the colour changing LED lamp is 5.3 watts. The remote control has an inbuilt 4 stage dimming facility. |
I am planning to use colour changing mood lighting in my walk in shower 1400mm x 900mm.
How units would your recommend?
Are these units safe to use where the loft insulation will be immediately above?
Can you provide colour changing units that are almost flush to the ceiling? Two units would create the right look in this space.
The low heat from the LED will not cause issues for the insulation but you should try to allow some ventilation - like all lamps if the LED lamp has no ventilation the lamp life will be reduced.
This lamp can be used in other flush fittings - but we recommend this version. |
I assume that the kit comes with one lamp, so if I needed 2 or 3 then it would be 1 kit with a remote and then additional lamps. Can you confirm this. If you want to have say 3, you would need 1x KITRGBSH+R and 2 KITRGBSH. |
Does the remote control switch the light on and off as well as control the colours etc? Yes, the remote changes colour, dims the light and switches them on and off. |
I want to use an IR blaster to control one of these from above the ceiling. Is the fitting able to receive from above?
The fixed IR receiver in the lamp has a restricted range when the signal comes from above the ceiling. In tests carried out in a downlight set into a plasterboard ceiling the distance for reliable switching is 450mm. For reliability we always suggest use of an IR remote control from within the room itself. |
Thinking of using the Tubular Bathroom 3 Light - IP44 Brushed Steel fitting as the main light source and include 2 mood lights in addition. Would they appear to match as one is aluminum and one is brushed steel? Or doesn't this really matter aesthetically? Both fittings are a Matt finish, so next to each other these fittings would look fine. |
What is the void depth required? We recommend a void depth of approximately 80mm. Please see previous questions posted below. |
Can you get the infra read codes for these lamps as I have home automation and would like to control what colour they are from the home automation as well as from the remote. No we can't provide this information. If your home automation control has a learn facility you could use this to replicate the dedicated remote control. |
Are these lights sutable for down lighters on the ceiling above bookshelves? There is no heat from the LED light source so they would suit your installation. |
My white light fittings are polished chrome. Do you do similar finished fittings for the mood lights? A similar fitting that is finished in polished chrome can be found here You will also need a mains lamp holder as this fitting is LV. |
Do you have an online instruction guide for the IR -003 LED controller? Unfortunately I cannot find the one that came with the kit.
Thanks
