Does the fitment come with a suitable bulb? If not, can you please advise type of bulb required and price? Is there a break point price for quantity? A 28w 2D compact fluorescent lamp is supplied with the fixture. I am interested in using this light in several area of my home. Please can you advise if special wiring is required the lamp will continue to work for longer than 8 mins if movement is still detected? The length of time that the light remains on after activation can be adjusted from 8 seconds to 8 minutes. Turning the TIME control anti-clockwise will reduce the duration time. Note: Once the light has been triggered by the PIR sensor any subsequent detection will start the timed period again from the beginning.

Can you tell me would this unit be ideal for porches, i.e would it triggered if there is movement outside the porch area. Infared beams used by PIR motion detectors can not pass through glass. So if the porch has no glass between the light and a visitor it will work.

I have been told that switching these lamps regularly can damage the light and ballast, it is recommended that on is for a minimum of 20 mins. Can you comment? I am replacing similar where ballasts and lamps are failing every few months as they are on currently for 24 hours day / 7 day week. I believe heat build up is my main issue hence sensor switching is required. The use of electronic control gear solves many of the issues associated with magnetic ballasts and glow starters. The high frequency cycle is kinder to the lamp and gives a longer lamp life. Inrush currents are reduced by the solid state circuitry used to start the lamp. The 20 minute suggestion is new to us as the lamp would reach operating temperature (and full light output) easily within a few minutes. Yes heat and UV will reduce the life of most light fixtures (and most other things on our planet). But electronic control gear generates less heat than old style ballast.

Can you get the fitting in emergency also? Unfortunately there is not an emergency version of this fitting.

Is a separate connection available from the sensor to trigger other lights? I would like to install four of these in a four story communal corridor. I would like any one to trigger all lights. Unfortunately you cannot wire 4 fittings together and the PIR trigger them all at the same time. Your only option would be to purchase a seperate PIR detector and have your fittings all wired to it.

Could you please say if this light requires an earth connection? This product must be connected to Earth.
