GU10 lamp types:

PAR Most GU10 lamps supplied with light fittings are PAR lamps i.e. the reflector around the filament is coated with a thin layer of aluminium (Polished Aluminium Reflector) This layer of aluminium reflects light and heat forward making them suitable for use in enclosed spotlights and recessed downlights where heat build up could be a problem.

Dichroic We also stock the GU10 lamp with a dichroic coating. Dichroic reflectors reflect visible light forward while allowing the invisible infrared light (radiated heat) to pass out of the rear of the fixture, resulting in a beam of light that is 'cooler'. Some red and yellow light escapes from the rear of the lamp and this can be used to backlight ceilings in fittings where the lamp is exposed. Dichroic lamps are very useful in areas with low ceilings where the heat from PAR lamps can cause discomfort to tall users.

Xenon Mains Voltage Xenon have a higher light output and increased life than standard Halogen lamps. Xenon lamps have a PAR reflector.

Dimmable?	Yes on standard dimmer Standard dimmers are recommended for mains voltage lighting only. Leading edge phase cut dimmer Good quality leading edge dimmers can be used on wire-wound transformers and compatible electronic transformers. If audible noise is produced we suggest you change to good quality dimmer from Richmond Lighting. When selecting a dimmer add up the wattages of the bulbs (or transformers) you wish to dim and choose a dimmer with a suitable maximum load rating. Trailing edge transistor dimmer For use with dimmable electronic transformers (that are compatible with trailing edge technology). These dimmers are not suitable for wire-wound transformers.
